Press Releases / Tech

Pricing and availability have not yet been announced, though Acer plans to have the TravelMate Spin B1 available in Q2 2017.

Acer has unveiled a couple of new devices at the British Education and Training Technology (BETT) show in London this week. We’ve already talked about the convertible Chromebook Spin 11, but Windows users were not ignored at the show. The Acer TravelMate Spin B1 is a durable Windows notebook geared towards education and commercial clients.

The TravelMate Spin B1 features many of the same durability features as we’ve already discussed in the Chromebook Spin 11, including rubber bumpers for protection, a water-resistant keyboard capable of funneling up to 11oz of water away from internal components in case of a spill, and a 360° hinge that allows for the standard four operating positions — Laptop, Tent, Stand, and Tablet. The TravelMate Spin B1 also includes a pressure-resistant screen that can withstand a frontal impact of up to 60Kgf.

On the inside, the TravelMate will sport Intel processors as well as integrated Intel graphics, and it’s said to have 13 hours of battery life, though no battery size was announced at this point. The laptop will include a stylus, allowing for Windows Ink integration for writing notes, as well as doodling, drawing, and quick access to OneNote via a click of the stylus. Other hardware includes 2×2 MIMO 802.11ac wireless, Bluetooth 4.0, two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port, one HDMI port, 3.5mm headphone jack, and SD card reader.

Acer has also included Acer TeachSmart software:

The software’s interface works in conjunction with embedded multi-colored LED lights on each student’s notebook cover to allow them to easily communicate with the teacher, get class materials, take quizzes, and even request bathroom breaks.

Pricing and availability have not yet been announced, though Acer plans to have the TravelMate Spin B1 available in Q2 2017. Exact specifications will vary by region, though the overall performance should be similar. You can read more about the Acer TravelMate Spin B1 in the full press release below.
