The internet is a vast trove of data, images, videos, music and more, that you can’t possibly see everything all of the time. So forgive us if you’ve seen this little gem already, but not everyone has (including us). We’re talking about the very creepy Scarlett Johansson robot. Yes indeed, one man decided he absolutely needed Scarlett Johansson in his life, so he made a robot that looks like her. Ricky Ma is a graphics and product designer in Hong Kong and this man spent upwards of $50,000USD to create this lifelike representation of Ms. Johansson.
It looks like the only thing this guy didn’t get right was the voice, and those arms and hands leave a little to be desired. But what’s pretty impressive is the facial expressions and the eye movement he’s been able to program into the robot. The video below gives a little more insight into how all of that works and it’s even creepier than the video above.

Robotics technology is coming along quickly as is artificial intelligence, especially when major tech companies like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, IBM, and Facebook band together to research such things. The Partnership on Ai is a cooperative effort between these companies to help keep projects like robot Johansson from sparking to life and giving rise to the machines. Of course, that doesn’t mean that independents like Ricky Ma won’t find a way to create Skynet. I don’t know, I think I’d rather have a robot army of Scarlett Johanssons rather than Arnold Schwarzeneggers trying to kill me.
