Windows 10 Cloud may be Microsoft’s answer to Google’s Chrome OS

Without a doubt, Google has been making big strides into the educational and institutional markets like governments and churches with their Chrome OS. The operating system created by Google, based on Linux, is lightweight, easy to maintain, and inexpensive. Chrome OS has taken a share of the market from both Apple and Microsoft but a new leak shows Microsoft may be fighting back. Windows 10 Cloud could be the answer to Microsoft’s slipping hold on some PC markets. Because Chrome OS is an app-based operating system, it can afford to be extremely light and very easy to update and keep secure. Windows 10 Cloud looks to be shooting for the same goal, cutting much of the heavy program load and streamlining the OS to be app-based.

Windows 10 Cloud is a simplified version of Windows 10 that will be able to run only Unified Windows Platform (UWP) apps installed from the Windows Store, my contacts say. Think of it as being similar to the version of Windows 10 formerly known as Windows RT or the Windows 8.1 with Bing SKU.

The looks of the user interface, at least from the screenshots provided by Windows Blog Italia, do not show much of a change. The new features were discovered by some Windows 10 users including one user named The Walking Cat.

It will be very interesting to see what Microsoft does with Windows 10 Cloud as the company had no comment when questioned by Mary Jo Foley of ZDNet. Should Microsoft go into production with the idea it should give Google some heat, which is a good thing as competition is healthy for everyone

What do you think about Windows 10 Cloud? Do you think Microsoft will bring it to market? Do you think they can gain some traction back from Google? Let us know in the comments below or on Twitter, Facebook, and Google+.
