There are a lot of earbuds and headphones on the market and we’ve been fortunate enough to review quite a few here at Techaeris. It’s becoming very evident that there are many great products out there to choose from and we have yet another. Last year we reviewed the ISOtunes earbuds and gave them a Techaeris Top Pick Award. This year, the company has introduced their ISOtunes Pro wireless earbuds and we took them for a spin. Find out what we thought in our full ISOtunes Pro review and why they’ve earned yet another Top Pick Award.

The orange color is okay, but I do wish they were all black

Design

When I first opened the box that orange color hit me along with the size of the ISOtunes Pro. My initial reaction was, these things aren’t going to stay put in my ears, they’ll be too heavy. After I removed them from the packaging, I noticed they weren’t as heavy as I initially thought. The housing of the Pros is made of a high-quality plastic and looks and feels very durable. The wire that comes out of the earbuds is memory wire and can be wrapped around your ear for best comfort.

The ISOtune Pro’s are also IPX4 waterproof and sweatproof and the eartips are made from Comply material. Along the right side of the wire are all your controls inside a nice sturdy module. This module houses your Pause/Play/Track Control, Answer/End Calls, Volume Up/Down, and Noise canceling microphone. My two major gripes with the design are the color and the cable. I do wish these came in all black and I wish the cable was either flat or braided. Other than that, the design is really great, lightweight yet tough.

Ease of Use

The earbuds are super simple to pair via Bluetooth 4.1 — if you’ve paired earphones in the past then this is a no-brainer. Just hold the power button down for a few seconds until you hear pairing mode and find the ISOtune Pro earbuds in your Bluetooth menu on your device.

They fit in my ears nicely

Sound

The sound here is much better than already great ISOtunes original earbuds. The mids and highs were spot-on balanced with the bass punching through just a bit giving you a nice bottom end. As I mentioned in my first ISOtunes review, the sound here is very much enhanced by the noise isolation offered by the Comply eartips. While I’ve used much more expensive earbuds that probably have a little better sound signature, the noise isolation here really immerses you in the sound.

In order to get that great sound, you’ll have to be sure to fit these in your ears properly. If you’ve never used Comply type material or earplugs in general, there are some tips and tricks for getting a good fit. The best way to get the best fit and the best experience from these is to start by gently roll the tips in between your fingers. Next, pull the back of your ear up and slide the tip in letting go of your ear as the foam expands to take up that space. Be sure to be careful, though, just like earplugs, you don’t want to insert them too far. The diagram below is an example of how it would be done.

Overall the sound experience here is really super considering these are sub $100USD priced wireless earbuds. They really shine at noise isolation really shutting out the world around you, perfect for lawn mowing, in loud server rooms or anywhere else you just want to lose yourself in the music.

Reception/Call Quality

Reception is your basic 30 feet for Bluetooth if you’re in a good line of sight with your device you may get a bit more. Call quality is really good here, those Comply tips really keep noise out so you can hear the caller and the noise canceling mic does a great job keeping noise out of your conversation.

Battery Life

Battery life is much better than the original ISOtunes, advertised at 10 hours, I was able to get just over 11-hours with 50% volume. Your battery life will vary depending on volume levels, distance from the source and other factors.

Price/Value

I thought the original ISOtunes were worth every penny and the same goes for the ISOtunes Pro, for $89.99USD you’re getting an amazing deal. Also, as of this review, it looks like ISOtunes has a $10 off deal on their website if you sign up for their newsletter.

Wrap Up

The ISOtunes Pro are really amazing noise isolating earbuds with really great sound. If you were considering the original ISOtunes, I’d skip those and pay the extra $30 for the ISOtunes Pro.
