Not even 24 hours ago, we posted a confirmation from the head honcho of Niantic Labs himself that trading, PvP battles, and legendaries will be coming in the near future, meaning soon. Now, today, Niantic Labs hit their blog page to let us know that another update will be out later this week with the addition of 80 new Pokémon from the Johto region plus a few new features are being added to the game such as a new berry, clothing for your avatar, and some new evolutions.

Starting off with the new 80+ Pokémon being added in, you’ll finally get to see the second generation starters, Chikorita, Totadile, and Cyndaquil (the best) along with others such as Marill, Crobat (evolution of Golbat), Skarmory, Hoppip, Donphan and many more. In addition to the new creatures being added in, one of the features is new evolutions from the Pokémon residing in the Kanto region. Niantic is saying “to be on the lookout for new Evolution items at PokéStops, which you’ll need to evolve some Pokémon.” The ability to evolve Pokémon via items is pretty cool, but how would that work for some that only evolve by having a high friendship level like Crobat? Niantic has probably thought that through, but we’ll just have to wait for the update.

More features will include new avatars and an expanded wardrobe, so you’ll be able to change hats, shirts, pants, and other items to make your avatar look even more like you. Two new berries called Pinap berry and the Nanab will be introduced to offer the ability to provide you with double the candies upon successfully catching the Pokémon you’re currently trying to capture and slow down the movements of said Pokémon making it easier to capture. You can get those new berries by spinning the disk at PokéStops when the update is pushed out.

Lastly, there will be new encounters during gameplay. When you encounter a Pokémon it will begin to move in different ways than it currently does in the game by jumping. The berries and Pokéballs will have a carousel feel to it allowing you use them during the encounter screen instead of having to tap the item bag and then choose a berry or Pokéball as you do right now.

Things seem to be starting to lift off for Pokémon GO in 2017 and I don’t think Niantic will stop there considering there’s even more Pokémon to add in and maybe some double or triple battles would be cool to see. What are your thoughts about Niantic adding in more Pokémon to the game and some of the new features? Let us know by dropping your comments down below, or on Google+, Facebook, or Twitter.
