dodocool DC315

There’s not much to say about the design of the dodocool DC315 as it’s a fairly simple and average hub interface.

Design

There’s not much to say about the design of the dodocool DC315 as it’s a fairly simple and average hub interface. I did find that it was much bulkier and bigger than I think it should be. At first glance, you’d think this was an all aluminum device but on closer inspection, it’s a combo of plastics and aluminum. There are 3 USB 3.0 ports on one side and 1 USB 3.0 port and an HDMI 1.4 port on the other. On one end is the USB-C cable for connecting to your device. The cable itself is well built and very robust. Overall this is a simple design, a bit bulky, average build quality nothing really that exciting.

Ease of Use

This is as plug and play as it gets, just plug it into a laptop with a USB-C port and off you go. Very easy to use, no one should have an issue operating this device.

Performance

Transfer speeds from USB 3.0 flash drives through the USB 3.0 ports into 2016 MacBook Pro were quick and painless. Video files took the longest but even then a 2.5GB file took a matter of seconds to transfer. You should also understand that USB 2.0 flash drives will perform slower so don’t expect the same type of performance when moving data from old flash drives. I don’t own a 4K display so I was unable to test 4k resolution but 1080p out through the HDMI port worked as expected. Overall the dodocool DC315 performs just as any hub of this caliber should perform.

Price/Value

MSRP is $43.99USD and the hub is currently on sale on Amazon for $32.99USD. I still think $32.99USD for this device is a bit pricey but thankfully dodocool is providing our readers with a bit of a discount on Amazon. Hit the Amazon link below and use the coupon code YHJBR6P6 at checkout and you’ll get 25% off which knocks the price down to $24.74USD which is a much more reasonable price for this hub.

Wrap Up

A decent little hub that’s just a bit overpriced. Grab it now before our coupon code expires.
