We cover Master & Dynamic extensively here at Techaeris and there are a few reasons for that. First, the company launched right about the same time as Techaeris and I feel a kinship with the care and love they put into their products. We try very hard to give our readers the best we can and we’re a smaller operation and independent just like Master & Dynamic. Now Master & Dynamic is partnering with premiere camera brand Leica to reimagine their already stellar MW60, MH40, and ME05 headphones. Check out the video above and the press release below for full details.

Master & Dynamic and Leica Camera partner to release custom sound tools

The two premium brands have reimagined our Master & Dynamic products, including two headphones, an earphone, and a headphone stand for the Master & Dynamic for 0.95 signature collection

[New York, NY] April 27, 2017 – New York City-based premium audio company Master & Dynamic today announced a partnership with like-minded premium camera company Leica Camera and their high-end accessories brand 0.95. Working closely together, the two icons have fused their common values in creating the “Master & Dynamic for 0.95” signature collection of two headphones, an earphone and a headphone stand inspired by the design of the legendary and world’s fastest aperture aspherical lens: The Leica Noctilux-M 50mm f/0.95 ASPH. All four sound tools will initially be available globally at Leica stores, at selected key retail partners of both brands and on Master & Dynamic’s website.

The “Master & Dynamic for 0.95” collection includes a number of Master & Dynamic’s core products: the black metal/black leather MW60 Wireless Over-Ear Headphones ($549USD), black metal/black leather MH40 Over-Ear Headphones ($399USD), black PVD-coated brass ME05 Earphones ($199USD) and black steel MP1000 Headphone Stand ($59USD). This unique series of headphones – just like Leica cameras – accompany one on a journey through life, whether traveling the globe or savoring the beauty found in the moments of everyday life.

“When I set out to create Master & Dynamic, I asked my team to think about our approach to headphones the same way revered premium brands I admire treat their products,” said Jonathan Levine, Founder, and CEO of Master & Dynamic. “I’ve loved Leica’s aesthetic and craftsmanship for quite some time, so to be partnering with them on a design project within three years of the launch of Master & Dynamic is truly an honor. It’s amazing to see how many fans and enthusiasts we have in common.”

“Concentration on the essential is Leica Design’s guiding principle. At Leica, we believe that ‘form follows function’ in all its consequences. This also means that all our products have to be of the highest standards in manufacturing and quality. Only if the product is close to perfection in its function can it develop these special aesthetics,” says Mark Shipard, Head of Design at Leica Camera AG.” This same standard we ask of our cooperation partners, too. In Master & Dynamic, we found a partner which believes in these values equally. It was, therefore, an intuitive process to design this beautiful, high-quality series of headphones.”

The headphones and earphones all feature the iconic red marker known from Leica’s legendary lenses; both of the custom headphones are covered in black smooth grain cowhide and also feature the aforementioned red color on the ear pads’ acoustic mesh. Leica’s signature knurling is apparent throughout, as are the words “Developed in NYC. Reimagined in Wetzlar,” which are engraved inside the ear cup of the MW60 and MH40 in the company’s signature font.

Featuring Master & Dynamic’s signature blend of form and function, the entire “Master & Dynamic for 0.95” collection looks as good as it sounds. Named in homage of the Leica Noctilux-M 50mm f0.95 ASPH. lens, 0.95 is an attitude that unites the fine art of precision engineering, superb performance, quality of materials and enduring value. These ideals reflect Master & Dynamic’s meticulous approach to materials, technology, and sound quality.
