SANUS Swiveling TV Base review: A solid TV mounting solution

|
, , ,

TA-ratings-98TV mounts come in a variety of flavors with wall mounting seemingly being the preferred solution, but there are those who can’t wall mount. That’s where the SANUS Swiveling TV Base comes into the picture. This particular SANUS TV stand was made to pair with the brand new SONOS PLAYBASE. The company markets the stand saying it “creates the appearance of a TV hovering over the PLAYBASE, PLAYBAR or preferred sound solution. Luckily, we have a SONOS PLAYBASE in for review, and we can confirm that it works brilliantly with the SANUS TV stand, but this is the review of the stand. Stay tuned in the near future for the PLAYBASE review on its own. Read on for the full review of the SANUS Swiveling TV Base.

Design

The aesthetic design of the SANUS Swiveling TV Base is actually really nice, but for the most part, it will be hidden by the TV you mount on it. One thing is for certain, it’s heavy, but as it’s pretty much all steel, that’s to be expected. The design of this TV stand is meant to make your TV look as if it’s floating in mid-air, and for the most part it achieves that illusion. The stand is designed for TV’s 32″-60″ and should fit most TV’s in that range. My Samsung 60″ LED HDTV just barely fit with no tolerance left to spare. Overall this is a nicely designed stand made from premium materials with a nice side-to-side swivel for best viewing angles.

Assembly

First off, this is a two-person assembly job without a doubt. You will only need a screwdriver and the supplied wrench to put it together, but you will need at least two people to accomplish this task. If you have a third person it’s even better. Difficulty in putting this together will also depend on the size of TV you’re mounting on this thing. Our 60″ Samsung is pretty large and even with two of us, we struggled to get it mounted and secured. Assembly isn’t a difficult task by any means, but it does require at least two people, this isn’t a project you should be taking on solo.

Ease of Use

The WSTV1 has a nice side-to-side swiveling action that gives great viewing angles if you need to swing the TV to better suit your seating position. Even if you’re not using the swiveling feature, this stand is far more secure than your standard TV base and is less likely to fall over than your normal TV base. Overall. this is a super-simple product to use once it is setup.

Price/Value

The SANUS WSTV1 is priced at $149.99USD, which is competitive in the market. I think this stand offers a lot of value for the features you get in it.

Wrap Up

A great TV stand that swivels and pairs great with the SONOS PLAYBASE or any other sound solution. One thing to note, the larger the TV, the less clearance for soundbars you’ll have.
