Design

The BlitzWolf Pro Waterproof LED Camping Lantern and Powerbank features a simple cylindrical design just over 5 1/2″ in length and 1 3/8″ in diameter. The main part of the lamp is capped on either end by a black plastic cap. The top (non-removable) cap has a green push button which allows the user to toggle between the five different modes, a metal hanger, and a slot to insert the strap.

The bottom cap is removable and houses the Micro-USB charging port and USB-A port for charging a smartphone or other device. The cap is attached with a plastic string-like piece and has a rubber ring on the inside to keep the ports dry when screwed on tightly.

The main area of the lamp, about 2 3/4″ in length, houses the LED light. The LED light itself wraps around the front half of the lamp, while the back half is covered with a black insert with the BlitzWolf logo and product information. As such, the light only projects out in one direction instead of 360 degrees.

The waterproof LED lamp itself is solidly constructed, and both IP68 waterproof/dustproof rated. It is also shockproof and can be banged around a fair bit making it perfect for camping, hiking, fishing, and other outdoor activities.

Ease of Use

The BlitzWolf Pro Camping Lantern couldn’t be easier to use. Pressing the green button on the top end turns on the light in low white light mode, a second press toggles high white light mode, another bright red, the next a red strobe, and finally a red SOS sequence.

To recharge the lamp, unscrew the bottom cap and plug it into the Micro-USB port. You can also charge a smartphone by connecting it to the USB-A port under the same cap. To tell how much battery is left, you simply hold down the green button for 3 seconds and a blue LED in the bottom corner of the light area will flash between one and four times to let you know how much power you have left.

Performance

The lamp works great and is super bright when using the high white light mode, but also plenty bright when using the low white light mode. Charging an external device, like a smartphone, isn’t too bad as the power bank function puts out 1.5A but you’re not going to be getting fast charging from this by any means. Still, it’s a nice added feature to have in case you need a bit of power in a pinch while out and about.

Battery Life

BlitzWolf claims the camping lantern lasts up to 75 hours on a single charge depending on the lighting mode used. During our testing, we ran it from full to empty on high white light and got almost exactly 10 hours — which is what the user guide indicates you should get. For low white light mode, we pushed it through 30 hours of use and the lamp was still indicating there was between 50-75% battery life, so we have no doubt that it’ll reach 75 hours on this mode.

While we didn’t test them out, the red light mode should last just under 19 hours, while the red strobe light or the red SOS strobe modes should last you just under 39 hours before requiring a recharge. Once you do manage to deplete the battery, it will take about 6 hours to fully recharge from empty. Given our testing, there’s definitely no complaints with the battery life on this LED camping lantern.

Price/Value

With an MSRP of $23.99USD, the BlitzWolf BW-LT5 Pro Camping Lantern can be purchased on Banggood for $18.99USD. BlitzWolf has also provided us a discount code for our readers, for a limited time use the code life17 and get an additional 15% off! Given the solid build quality, light modes, power bank feature, long-lasting battery, and the fact that it is water- and shockproof, this is more than a reasonable price for this little LED lamp.

Wrap-up

The BlitzWolf Pro Camping Lantern is a handy, long-lasting, waterproof LED light which is great for outdoor activities like camping, hiking, fishing, and more.
