Heatworks has added an app and Wi-Fi control to the MODEL 3 tankless water heater which lets you remotely control and monitor the water heater.

While tankless water heaters aren’t all that new, they are constantly being improved and new features are being added all the time. Heatworks is returning to Kickstarter after their successfully funded Model 1 campaign with a new and improved MODEL 3 Wi-Fi enabled tankless water heater.

If you’re unfamiliar with tankless water heaters, instead of having a tank that heats up and stores hot water for use, tankless water heaters heat the water instantly and on demand. The MODEL 3 Water Heater from Heatworks uses a patented Ohmic Array Technology which uses graphite electrodes. This method results in no scaling or corrosion, something that is typical with traditional water heater tanks.

Being able to heat water up to 4 gallons per minute, the MODEL 3 is compact — only 12″ x 12″ x 12″, easy to install, and is 99% energy efficient. In addition, Heatworks has added an app and Wi-Fi control to the MODEL 3 tankless water heater which lets you remotely set the temperature, track how much water you use on a daily basis, and can even control the amount of hot water used in the shower.

Other features include:

  • At 100 Amps, produces a temperature rise of 41ºF at 4GPM or a rise of 82ºF at 2GPM
  • 240 VAC, 30-100 Amps = 7.2KW – 24KW (field selectable)
  • Up to 40% energy savings on water heating costs
  • Weighs 15 lbs
  • uses 3/4″ NPT pipe fittings
  • LED panel, full Wi-Fi connectivity & mobile app
  • 6-year full unit replacement warranty

With just over 3 weeks left in the campaign, Heatworks has reached $123,065 of their $125,000 “all or nothing” goal. While the first tier backing is no longer available, there are still some units available at $389USD, a $110 savings off the anticipated $599 retail price.
