New Pokémon games are coming to the Nintendo Switch and 3DS

Gotta catch them all! Sorry, couldn’t help myself. Today, Nintendo announced two (one) new Pokémon games coming to their existing gaming consoles/handhelds. It’s more of a continuation of some existing games, but regardless, it’s something new coming out. Nintendo also mentioned that Pokémon Gold and Silver will be making their way to the Virtual Console.

First up is Pokkén, the fighting style game that came out last year for the Wii U which allows you to choose the Pokémon you want to be and fight against another. Don’t understand that? No problem, think Tekken or Marvel Vs. Capcom. It’s that type of fighting game. With Pokkén porting over to the Switch, there will be some new features and Pokémon included such as a 3 on 3 battle, group battles, ranked battles, and five (5) new additional Pokémon: Croagunk, Darkrai, Decidueye, Empoleon, and Scizor.

Next up is Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. I’d say these two new games are like Sun and Moon that are already out, but then I would be lying. Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon offer a new story line different from the current Sun and Moon and offer some new Pokémon showing up in the PokeDex. The last time Pokémon has a second story line of the same game was back when Pokémon Black and White came out. Black and White 2 offered a different story line with a new legendary and looks to be the same for Ultra Sun and Moon. When first seeing this, I looked right at Solgaleo (Sun) and immediately thought of Liger from Zoids. Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon will be out on November 17th, a year after the original Sun and Moon were released, so get ready for another game!

If you already own Pokkén for the Wii U and have a Nintendo Switch now, do you plan on getting the game again? For those who have Pokémon Sun and Moon for the 3DS, do you think you’ll be getting Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon on November 17th?
