Blizzard is about to take Diablo III offline for two hours of maintenance. Once maintenance is complete, we should be seeing the new “Rise of the Necromancer Pack” ready for purchase and download on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

UPDATE (06/27/2017 3 p.m. ET): The “Rise of the Necromancer Pack” is now available for purchase from the Blizzard online store for PC, PlayStation Store for the PS4, and the Xbox Store for the Xbox One.

ORIGINAL STORY:

The Necromancer was a favoured character in Diablo II, and now they’re coming to Diablo III in the latest update — just over 5 years after the game was first launched back in 2012.

Comprised of controlled, calculating individuals, the Priests of Rathma have long known the true stakes at the heart of the Eternal Conflict. Known to uneducated outsiders as Necromancers, these masters of blood, bone, and the dark arts are often misunderstood. Driven to protect the Balance at all costs, those dedicated to walking this path see neither good nor evil in their actions; simply obedience to the cycle of being.

The addition of the Necromancer brings the number of playable classes in the still widely played game to seven alongside the Barbarian, Crusader, Demon Hunter, Monk, Witch Doctor, and Wizard. The new class uses bone and blood spells to deal damage and heal itself while raising skeletons to fight alongside them throughout Sanctuary.

The “Rise of the Necromancer Pack” includes:

  • Necromancer class
  • Non-combat pet
  • A pair of cosmetic wings
  • New Necromancer-themed Banner Shape, Sigil, and Accent
  • Necromancer Portrait Frame
  • Pennant
  • Two additional character slots
  • Two additional stash tabs (not available on console versions)

The pack will be available for purchase starting today for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, will cost $14.99 USD and is compatible with both the Diablo III: Reaper of Souls and Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition versions of the game. In addition, a new Diablo III: Eternal Collection is also available for $59.99USD (currently on sale for $38.99 for the Xbox One) for newcomers to the game. The new collection includes all Diablo III content to date, including the new “Rise of the Necromancer Pack.”

The new patch (2.6.0) will also include free updates for existing players which include new places to explore like The Shrouded Moors and weekly Challenge Rifts with new rewards available.
