First title officially leaving EA Access on October 18th

It turns out titles will be leaving EA Access even though EA said numerous times that titles added to the EA Access Vault on the Xbox One wouldn’t be leaving the service. In this case, however, it kind of makes sense as the company is dropping online support for an older title — FIFA 14.

Online services for FIFA 14 will be sunset soon, meaning multiplayer and Ultimate Team content for this game will no longer function on any platform. We have also decided to remove FIFA 14 from the EA Access Vault on October 18, 2017.

Members can continue to download and enjoy FIFA 14 until then, and those who keep the game on their console hard drive will be able to play it offline after that date. Once it’s removed from a console, it cannot be downloaded again after October 18.

We’re sad to see any title leave the collection, and rest assured that we’ll do our best to limit removals in the future. For now, we hope you’ll enjoy the other great games in our service – like all the latest FIFA titles – and we look forward to seeing you on the pitch.

EA could arguably keep FIFA 14 in the Vault, just without the online services support. As such, it looks like their stance has changed from “once a game goes into the Vault it stays there, it’s not going to be taken out” to “we’ll do our best to limit removals in the future.”
