Samsung jumps into mesh networks with Connect Home Wi-Fi system

|

Setting up a home Wi-Fi network used to be a daunting proposition and to some extent still is. But things are getting easier. One of the latest home networking technologies is called mesh networking. Now, Samsung is jumping into the mesh network game with their Connect Home Wi-Fi system. A mesh network allows for quick and easy setup via a smartphone app and usually involves a router and extender. Usually, the router and extender are already paired to each other and all the user needs to do is power them up and follow the app instructions.

This mesh network from Samsung offers this same easy to set up process and promises great Wi-Fi connectivity. Samsung’s offering connects compatible smart devices including cameras, lights, voice assistants and even Samsung’s appliances. The idea is to allow you to control literally everything from your smartphone. The system is pretty small as well, which is a welcome thing as some routers and even extenders can be bulky.

Samsung Connect Home will be available in three offerings: a single Samsung Connect Home, a three-pack, or the Samsung Connect Home Pro, giving consumers customizable connectivity based on their speed and range needs. Each router has a range of up to 1,500 feet, and multiple Connect Home devices can communicate using mesh networking technology. Samsung says the system combines speed with range which devices share preventing connection interruptions.

Samsung Connect Home is the only router with SmartThings hub inside. Samsung Connect Home enables users to control their favorite smart home devices from a single touchpoint – the Samsung Connect app. It is compatible with hundreds of third-party smart home devices including Philips Hue Lights, Netgear Arlo Camera, and Ring Video Doorbell. With no monthly fees or subscriptions, the Samsung SmartThings ecosystem is the most convenient way to automate, monitor and control your home from anywhere.

Samsung Connect Home can be set up in minutes with easy-to-follow instructions via the Samsung Connect app. For larger homes using multiple units, simply plug one Connect Home device into your modem and the app will help you find the most effective place for others throughout your home. In addition, Samsung Connect Home is protected by hardware-based security technology, to keep smart devices secure and provide the latest firmware updates. Samsung Connect Home also allows users to keep track of their family’s screen time with parental controls, create network access for guests and more.
