An attractive design.

Design

The Archeer A225 Wireless Bluetooth Speaker is what I would describe as easy on the eyes. With its 1960’s style fabric, it will fit very nicely in your living room or office. It has a very modern aesthetic to it. The way that Archeer has sliced the top of the speaker so that it faces you at an angle is genius. It gives the speaker a warm feeling that fits right in with the fabric covering. The lines on the speaker are rounded further enhancing its warm look and feel.

The fabric covering really gives this speaker a high-class feel. The rounded edges and slightly angled top give the speaker a unique feel. I can see this sitting on an executive’s desk for those late evenings of working at the office.

Ease of Use

The volume ring found at the top of the unit is easy to use and is plainly visible. It takes up the whole top of the speaker and fits right in without looking weird. The top and center of the speaker is where Archeer’s Smart Touch Feature lives. It is a very impressive feature and works quite well. Swipe left and right for previous and next songs and rotate for volume up and down.

Bluetooth connectivity was spot on with my phone and other phones that I used with it. My only hang up came when I attempted to connect my 2011 MacBook, it could be that the MacBook has old technology not compatible with the Archeer’s A225 BT 4.1.

The speaker is light and easy to handle. The power button is at the bottom of the speaker which I wasn’t too keen on. The Smart Touch feature makes the speaker easy to use, why do I have to lift the speaker to turn it on or off? While this is not a deal breaker, it is a bit annoying. Otherwise ease of use is good here.

Sound

The Archeer A225 Wireless Bluetooth Speaker has very good sound. There was no distortion that I could hear, the bass response is good but it’s not going to rattle your desk. The total volume output of this speaker is perfect for indoor use. I can see this being used in a dorm or office where you can get away with some volume output but don’t want to be annoying to others. I did use it outdoors but the sound tends to fade as you get farther from the speaker. I will say that I don’t think the Archeer A225 was intended to be used outdoors. It would be adequate for a gathering around an evening marshmallow roast, but if it starts to rain you’d better get the speaker back indoors as it is not water proof.

Reception/Call Quality

As previously mentioned, Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity was great and I was able to get about 35-40 feet away before signal loss. The only issue I see here is connecting to older devices that may not support Bluetooth 4.1. Call quality is excellent and both parties seemed to hear and understand one another just fine.

Battery Life

Archeer claims 6+ hours of battery life and I would say that is about accurate.

Price/Value

The listed MSRP is $79.99USD and Archeer sells the speaker on their website for $35.99USD and I found it on Amazon for $32.99USD. For that price, I could buy a few for home, office, and dorm! For that price I could afford to give some away as gifts, knowing that the recipient would be pleased with the function, ease of use, and sound.

Wrap Up

The Archeer A225 has good sound, great price point, looks good, is easy to operate and has that handy Smart Touch feature for moving forward or back through my music library.
