StarChase, a manufacture of GPS tracking products, is introducing the GPS bullet for police use. The GPS bullet could save lives, in the long run, by cutting down on dangerous police pursuits. The GPS bullet would be fired out of the front grill of a police cruiser at a suspect vehicle. With a heavy duty adhesive on the blunt tip it will instantly stick to the fleeing vehicle at any speed, letting the police back off while the vehicle can then be tracked via GPS.
Of course this is not 100% fool proof, there are parameters and real world situations where the bullet may not stick or a shot is missed. There are no metrics right now to give any kind of success rate. But any new way of stopping police chases and saving many lives is welcome.
