CNET is reporting that Netflix is testing a new $6.99 streaming plan for some users. The new plan would allow for only one streaming device at a time and only in standard definition. We’re not sure why anyone would want to save $1 a month to view their content in standard definition but apparently Netflix believes there may be a market for such a pricing tier. A spokesperson for Netflix had this to say:
“At Netflix we continuously test new things. In this case we are testing a $6.99 single stream price point. Not everyone will see this and we may not ever offer it generally.”
The reasons behind this type of tier package are lost to me but, Netflix now has 30 million subscribers so they have to be doing something right. Let us know in the comments below or on Google+ and Twitter if you’ve been offered this new tier package. Hit the link for source.
