We have seen our fair share of battery cases come through the Techaeris doors, and the iBattz Mojo is likely not the last we will see. This combination external battery and protective case from iBattz is looking to be the last external battery case you’ll ever need.
The Mojo Refuel comes packaged in a nice, bright orange box. The packaging is not cheap by any means, but being a packaging snob I thought it could have been a little more minimal. Inside the box you get the battery case and bumper along with a USB to micro USB cord for charging and a headphone extension. The back of the battery case is made of the same kind of rubber-coated plastic material a lot of battery cases are made of. It’s soft to the touch and grips very well to the hand. It will pick up fingerprints, especially if you tend to enjoy greasy meals, so prepare to clean it.
The silver colored bumper threw me off for a second. I thought I was going to hate the silver bumper, but I was very wrong. The silver bumper goes very well with the black of the battery case and the black front of the iPhone. Around the back of the case you have a blue LED indicator showing how much juice you have left. One of the more creative and common sense design choices is the placement of the power button. Most of the cases I’ve reviewed always have the power button on the back, which leads to accidentally powering the case on. iBattz chose to put the power button on the side. I found that it works much better on the side, no misfires.
iBattz also includes a USB to microUSB charging cable (there is a microUSB port at the bottom of the case). One of the nicest features of the Mojo Refuel is that you can charge both the case and the iPhone through that microUSB port. This means you don’t have to remove the phone from the case to charge the case and phone separately. Not all charging cases have this feature, but I think it should be a standard feature and iBattz did it right. Also included is a headphone extender cable. The headphone jack gets buried due to the bulk added by the case. iBattz recognized that and added the extender for convenience.
I’ve kind of saved the best feature of the Mojo Refuel for last. This thing is using a removable and replaceable Samsung 2200mAh i9300 battery. That’s right, you can actually take the battery out of the battery case and replace it. This saves you from having to buy a whole new case once you’ve gone through the batteries life cycle. Just order yourself a replacement, which is cheaper than the whole case, and you’re good to go!
The iBattz Mojo Refuel is one of the better iPhone 5/5s battery cases I have tested and used. It’s 2200mAh battery gives your iPhone a full boost of power and will get you through the entire day. The design is nice and the feel of the case is exceptional. The case does add bulk and weight to your iPhone but come on, it’s an extra battery you should expect that. The Mojo Fuel is one of the most comfortable battery cases I have ever held, I truly loved how it felt in the hand. The power button on the side is much nicer than having it on the back, less chance of a misfire. But the real story here is the replaceable battery. Being able to just replace the battery is very cool. It’s also nice because you could theoretically carry a spare i9300 battery with you and swap it out if you were to need even more power. The iBattz Mojo Refuel is worth every penny ($75) and I give it my highest recommendation. 5 out of 5 stars. Hit the link below to get yours!
