Daniel Radcliffe stars in this fantasy/thriller from director Alexandre Aja based on Joe Hill’s novel Horns. Radcliffe is Ig Perrish a 26 year old who is accused of raping and murdering his girlfriend. He wakes up after a night of drinking to find something growing from his head, which of course end up being horns. These horns give Perrish the ability to persuade people, which he uses to try and find the person who really killed his girlfriend. The film also stars Juno Temple, James Remar, Kelli Garner, Heather Graham and others.
Horns has had mixed reaction from critics: some love it and some not so much. One review praised Radcliffe’s performance while another said the film “dooms itself from the onset”. The film is set to release in the US October 31st, conveniently Halloween. From my viewing of the trailer the movie looks intriguing and I am glad to see Radcliffe in something other than Harry Potter garb. Though I will say this doesn’t look like a film I would throw my money at in the theater. Unless future trailers spring forth something of wonder, I am afraid this one is going to be a Redbox for me.
