Take-Two Interactive announced today that the upcoming 2K and Turtle Rock shooter Evolve has been delayed until February 10, 2015.

The announcement came via Take-Two Interactive’s results for the fiscal first quarter of 2015 stating that 2K:

Announced that Evolve™, a new intellectual property for next-gen consoles and PC developed by Turtle Rock Studios, the creators of the cooperative shooter classic, Left 4 Dead, won more than 50 editorial honors at the 2014 Electronic Entertainment Expo, including the coveted Game Critics Award top honor for Best of Show. The title is now planned to launch globally on February 10, 2015.

No other reason was given for the delay to Turtle Rock Studios’ anticipated 4 vs 1 “hunters versus monster” multiplayer shooter. Originally set to launch this fall, Evolve can be added to the growing list of games being delayed beyond their originally announced launch dates. Unfortunately, this is quickly becoming a trend in the industry.

Evolve recently launched a three day Alpha even from August 1st through the 3rd.  Alpha and Beta access have been popular means of drumming up interest for some games – Destiny and Titanfall just to name a few.  Alpha participants have said the game is fun in it’s current form, but it may be that other problems were exposed to the developers during this time.

Do you think these delays hurt or help a title’s chances of success once it finally does launch? Let us know in the comments below! In the meantime, check out the Evolve trailer below.
