“Let The Streaming Begin!”: Netflix Scores Four Sandler Exclusives

|

Netflix has been on a bit of a tear with their exclusive shows like House of Cards, and Orange is the New Black – not to mention paying for rights to shows before they’ve even aired like Gotham. Going one step further, Netflix announced today that they have signed an agreement with Adam Sandler to develop four new movies that will premiere exclusively on Netflix.

“When these fine people came to me with an offer to make four movies for them, I immediately said yes for one reason and one reason only…. Netflix rhymes with Wet Chicks,”” said Sandler, “Let the streaming begin!”

Adam Sandler movies, including titles such as Big DaddyHappy Gilmore, The Wedding Singer, The Waterboy, and 50 First Dates, are definitely a staple in many households. According to Netflix, the deal is set to include four films from Happy Madison Productions which will be developed alongside Netflix. The films will be new projects and do not apply to anything that Happy Madison is currently working on.

““People love Adam’’s films on Netflix and often watch them again and again. His appeal spans across viewers of all ages – everybody has a favorite movie, everyone has a favorite line  – not just in the US but all over the world,”” Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos said in a statement.
