Telltale’s Game Of Thrones May Be Coming This Year

Virtually nothing is known about Telltate Games’ next episodic point-and-click adventure based on HBO’s Game of Thrones, but we may finally have a hint at a release date. Community manager Laura Perusco was answering a rather straightforward tweet asking when the Game of Thrones adaption would hit the Xbox Live arcade when she returned this with this:

This apparent confirmation of a release date is the latest breadcrumb in what little amount of details we can squeeze out of Twitter accounts, YouTube teasers, and other statements by Telltale Games. The game was officially announced last year with the teaser you can view below, but outside of that we have next to no information regarding the game.

We did however previously report that one of Destiny’s writers, Joshua Rubin, jumped ship to work on Game of Thrones for Telltale games. Now that Destiny has come out and its story was revealed to be pretty awful, it might be a little troubling to have one of the game’s most prominent names working on this new series. It’s always important to keep in mind that one writer doesn’t make all the decisions when it comes to a game’s story or even how that story is told, so keep your pitchforks tucked away and your torches unlit for now.

A couple weeks ago the official Telltate Games Twitter account did Tweet out a teaser image with the hashtag #IronFromIce – so maybe that image, combined with this date confirmation, means that the information stream is about to start flowing for this next big series. If Telltale follows their successful formula that they used with their licensed series of games about The Walking Dead, you can expect this December release will be the first episode of many based around HBO’s hit show.

So brace yourself for a winter release, and check back to MOARGeek for information when it becomes available!
