The Air Dock 2.0 Raising Funds On Indiegogo

The Air Dock is a fabulous wireless charging dock solution that we reviewed just a few months ago. Now The Air Dock 2 is raising funds over on Indiegogo. The campaign just started today but has already raised a whopping $16,626 of their $85,000 goal. The Air Dock team returns this time around with a few new implementations into an already great product, starting with its four different mounting options.

  • Standard mount for textured surfaces
This is the most versatile mounting option. Its suction cup can be used on many different surfaces. It attaches to textured dashboards, even if they are slightly curved.
  • Standard mount for smooth surfaces
This mount is a classic suction cup meant for any flat, smooth surface. It works especially well on windshields.
  • Long flexible mount
This mount has a long, flexible arm that can be bent into many different configurations. It mounts to the windshield or any other flat, glossy surface.
  • CD mount
This unique mount is meant to re-purpose your car’s CD player. It slips into the CD slot and then expands to hold itself firmly in place.

The Air Dock team also made the dock thinner and moved the microUSB port to the back of the unit, which should help to keep the only cable used in the setup more manageable. The Qi wireless charging unit was also upgraded and is supposed to supply a better charge to your phone. The biggest addition has to be the added NFC chip which will allow you to launch apps like navigation, media players or dock mode. The new design also supports more phones and works better with thicker cases. Overall this looks like a nice upgrade from the original and you can check out the Indiegogo at the link below.
