The Official Star Wars: Episode VII Trailer Has Arrived

After years of waiting, months of speculating, and days of fake trailers – it’s here! You’ve probably already skipped over this paragraph and started watching the Star Wars Episode VII trailer anyway so, check it out!

While it was initially reported earlier in the week that this first look at J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens would be only in theaters, Disney apparently changed course. At first it was only to be on iTunes as well as theaters, but it also showed up on YouTube earlier today.

Our first look at the Star Wars universe post-Vader should have any major fanboy or even the most casual of fans tingling all over.

After a quick disembodied voice telling us of an “awakening”, we see John Boyega waking up in the desert wearing a Storm Trooper suit. It’s already been revealed that Boyega is the lead and presumably a Jedi, so it’s interesting to see him start the trailer as a Storm Trooper on what appears to be Tatooine. A definite throwback to when Luke Skywalker dawned a suit in Episode IV.

A lot of other iconic Star Wars imagery is shown as well – including the X-Wing, the Millennium Falcon, and a group of traditional Storm Troopers. Right off the bat, it’s nice that it doesn’t look like anything major is being changed just for the sake of being different like another series of movies that will not be mentioned.

No doubt the coolest thing about the trailer was a cloaked Jedi(Sith?) wielding a red lightsaber with two mini lightsabers jutting out the sides of it. That could end up being pure sillyness or complete badassery depending on how Abrams and crew handle it. Can’t wait to see more!

It’s also worth noting that this is technically a “teaser” not a trailer. So don’t get too disappointed that much wasn’t revealed, as more will surely come later in longer trailers.
