First Look At The Newest Fire Emblem For 3DS

As usual, Nintendo led off their Direct with a big game announcement, this time in the form of the tentatively titled The Latest in the Fire Emblem Series for the 3DS. The game promises to have the same classic turn-based gameplay that Fire Emblem fans have had for decades, with a huge cast of characters that you fall in love with and weep like a baby when they die.
It is being developed by Intelligent Systems, the same studio that has worked on the franchise since its roots with the Japan-exclusive Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryū to Hikari no Tsurugi in 1990 all the way up to 2012’s Fire Emblem: Awakening. Character designs are being done by another series familiar, Kozaki Yusuke, who worked on Awakening.  The story of this latest Fire Emblem game will be done by well-known comic book and manga writer Shin Kibayashi which, as Iwata stated, should create a “unique atmosphere” for the game over previous entries in the series.
While its not expanded upon a whole lot, Iwata also revealed that player choices, both in conversations and in battles, will be bigger with broader effects. As well, challenges will reach levels “never before seen” in a Fire Emblem game.
As of now there is no release date scheduled, but the game is coming to 3DS sometime in the future. Check out the first teaser below.
