Wade Wilson’s most frequent ‘frenemy’ could potentially be making an appearance in next year’s Deadpool movie. Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman revealed he’d be open to the idea of making an appearance in the film with his good friend Ryan Reynolds.
On February 12, 2016, Reynolds will be playing the role of Deadpool for the second time; the first time being in X-Men Origins: Wolverine with Jackman. While that film is best left forgotten for fans of the Merc with the Mouth, it was a starting point for what is now one of the most anticipated films of next year.
The connection between Deadpool and Wolverine is incredibly strong, as not only have they fought alongside and against one another, but Deadpool actually has some of Wolverine’s DNA inside of him. Jackman realizes this and sees the film potential, as stated in an interview with MTV UK.
They are definitely enemies in the comics. “They always spark off well together, so I’d be open to that idea.
Ever since the leaking of the test footage late last year, the Deadpool movie has been on the forefront of fans of comic book movies. Reynolds and company have been slowly releasing info about the project and if this idea were to become a reality, it would surely take the buzz over the edge.
If Wolverine does make an appearance, it will undoubtedly be very brief, but very notable, like his cameo in X-Men: First Class. Jackman’s involvement in the film would certainly be short considering that he’ll also be filming the next installment for Fox’s main mutant saga, X-Men: Apocalypse.
Jackman has become as synonymous with Wolverine as any actor-character combination in recent history. Fox has built its X-Men franchise around him and it would come as no surprise if they decided hitch their old workhorse to another highly anticipated property.
