UPDATE (16:05CST): According to Apple’s system status page, iTunes and all other services are back up and running. A statement released earlier stated that the cause of the outage was an internal DNS error at Apple.

We apologize to our customers experiencing problems with iTunes and other services this morning. The cause was an internal DNS error at Apple. We’re working to make all of the services available to customers as soon as possible, and we thank everyone for their patience

ORIGINAL STORY

The Next Web also updated their post with many users reporting they too are affected by this issue that Apple is apparently having.

Thanks for your reports. We’ve had confirmation of problems in Australia, Brazil, Bolivia, Bulgaria, Poland, Serbia, South Africa, Cyprus, Canada, Switzerland, Spain, Sweden, Saudi Arabia, France, Finland, India, Italy, Indonesia, the Philippines, Romania, Ukraine, the Caribbean, Portugal, Egypt, Slovakia, Singapore, Vietnam, Israel, Iceland, the Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, Japan, Hong Kong, Germany, Greece, New Zealand, the UK and US. So it’s safe to say this is a worldwide issue.

Apple has not released any official comment on the outage or issue. One Next Web reader posted the following comment after he called Apple customer service.

Just spoken to Apple customer services UK and the agent was unaware of the issue until I told her to pick up her own phone and attempt to download an app. She said “Oh, yes I seem to be having the same error” and put me on hold. She then came back and said “We are aware of an outage but I don’t know how long it’s going to take, please try again in about an hour”…

Will try and keep this post updated as we can. The Next Web says some developers have heard from Apple saying to expect the issues to be cleared up in the next few hours. Are you having issues with iTunes or an Apple service this morning? Let us know in the comments below or on Google+, Facebook and Twitter.
