Netflix Renews House Of Cards; Season 4 Coming In 2016

In news that should be met with a resounding “well, duh,” Netflix has renewed its hit political drama House of Cards for a fourth season. The Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning series has arguably changed the landscape of streaming television, with Netflix more than proving that a show can be released all at once and still be talked about for months after the fact.

House of Cards is based on a novel and BBC miniseries that shares the same name that aired in 1990. The U.S. Netflix adaptation has Frank Underwood, an underhanded do-anything-to-win political snake, working his way up from Whip of the Democratic party to greater political heights.

The series has received high acclaim from critics and fans alike, with a Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and high marks from our own review. Its popularity has even spread to unlikely places such as Sesame Street in a skit starring “Frank Underwolf.”

News of the renewal was announced by the official House of Cards Twitter account which promises to “leave a legacy,” similar to Frank’s frequent motto on the show.

All three seasons of House of Cards can be seen now, in their entirety, on Netflix. If you wish to own the series yourself, Season 1 and Season 2 are both available on Amazon as Blu-ray box sets now, and Season 3 is available for pre-order.

No exact date was given for the show’s fourth season debut, only that it will be returning sometime in 2016.
