HOW TO: Watch HBO Now On ANY Device

One of the wonderful things in this digital age is there’s almost always a workaround, and luckily for non-iDevice users that holds true for Apple’s three-month HBO Now exclusive as well. Because of the exclusive, the only way you could access HBO Now for the next three months is by signing up and watching it with an Apple device.

That’s changed with a new offer from PlayOn – a browser and media server which allows you to watch shows, movies, and personal media on your PC or on your TV when used with an Xbox, PlayStation, Wii, Roku, or other streaming device. PlayOn also supports media players like Kodi (formerly XBMC), set-top boxes, and Android, Blackberry, Kindle Fire, Windows, and Apple phones and tablets.

PlayOn has added HBO Now to it’s list of supported channels, and is currently offering a 3 month PlayOn and PlayLater (allowing you to record and watch later) for only $9.99, after which the service will cost $4.99/mth. After you sign up and install the client, you’ll still need to get your hands on an iOS device to sign up for your free one month trial of HBO Now (after which you’ll be charged the $15/mth HBO Now subscription fee). After you’ve done that, it’s as simple as entering your HBO Now login information into the Channels tab in the PlayOn settings screen.

After that you should be set up and ready to go and be able to watch HBO Now on a variety of non-Apple devices to your heart’s content by following the setup instructions on the PlayOn website. One definitely can’t argue with a $10 for three months workaround to the HBO Now/Apple exclusive.

Let us know if you’ve used PlayOn or plan to try this out in the comments below, or on Google+, Twitter, or Facebook.
