P.T. Being Pulled From PlayStation Store April 29

P.T., the interactive demo that served as an announcement Silent Hills, is being pulled from the PlayStation Store on April 29. A notice on the game’s official site confirms the move, but it doesn’t make it any less worrying for fans of the demo or those looking forward to Silent Hills.

Were this any other company at any other time, the pulling might be seem as something positive or a sign of the next step in the development of Silent Hills. Given the tribulations at Konami and the messy departure of Hideo Kojima from the company recently however, it paints a more somber picture for the long-awaited next entry in the Silent Hill series. This is far form a confirmation that the Silent Hills game is off without the involvement of Kojima, but it’s definitely not a good omen for it.

Keep in mind, this is only the game being removed from the PlayStation Store. Meaning if you downloaded the demo previously, or plan on doing it before April 29, it will still be digitally yours forever as there is nothing tying it to an online experience that require upkeep from Sony or Konami themselves.

If you haven’t had the chance to play P.T. yet, you really should. At the very least, go ahead and look on YouTube for someone else playing it so you can experience it. It is a unique and twisted treat that offers several layers of mystery and horror in ways that haven’t been seen in games recently, and it deserves to be seen or played.

With just how enjoyable and downright scary the demo was, it had gamers understandably in a fervor over the idea of a full game with the same level of care, but it may not be coming after all. Even if a Silent Hills still makes its way to store shelves eventually, it likely won’t be the same without Kojima.

Silent Hills is (or was?) a collaboration between Hideo Kojima and Pacific Rim director Guillermo del Toro. It’s set to feature the likeness of The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus as the main protagonist. No release date has been announced.
