Google Search Numbers Up On Mobile, Desktop Declining

We are becoming less and less tethered to our desks as technology continues to advance and keep up with our mobile lives. Google search numbers indicate that mobile searching has increased and overtaken desktop searches in 10 countries including the US and Japan. Smartphones and tablets are fast becoming more powerful and useful, sometimes replacing users desktops and laptops. Pair that along with cloud storage services from just about every big player and it’s easy to see why mobile is out pacing desktop searching.

It’s no surprise to hear Google search numbers are up on mobile as Google itself has ushered in its ranking of websites by mobile optimization. Google will start ranking sites that are mobile optimized more favorably than those that are not. Mobile optimized sites, sometimes referred to as responsive sites, know what kind of devices are accessing its content and sizes itself to the users device. Techaeris and our sister site MOARGeek are both responsive designs so your content is delivered in a pleasing manner.

As the population continues to buy and use mobile devices I have no doubt that searching on mobile will continue to grow as well. Smartphones are in the 4.3″ to 6″ screen size range these days and most consumers find those screens perfect for consuming content. What do you think about mobile search outpacing desktop search? Do you do more on your mobile than on your desktop? Let us know in the comments below or on Google+, Facebook and Twitter.
