With Thor Odinson losing his worthiness to wield the powerful Mjolnir, another Thor has stepped in and possesses the power to take up the mighty hammer and rule all of Asgard. Thor #8 is set to be released tomorrow, however the big reveal of the new face of Thor has already been leaked, revealed, and confirmed by Marvel.
Now speculations can end because the new female lead will now be (drumroll please):
Jane Foster! Surprising to few, shocking to some, perhaps. Either way this leaves lots to speculate about what it means in the on-screen MCU since Jane was noticeably absent in Avengers: Age of Ultron. It was played off on screen and probably has something to do with limited screen time, budgeting issues, and money, money, money, but if Marvel really wanted Natalie Portman in A2, she would have been.
Does this give us clues as to what will transpire in Thor 3: Ragnarok, then? Will we follow Odin’s son as he becomes unworthy only to watch as his One True Love picks up his hammer and rules Asgard in his place? Couple this with Sam Wilson taking up the helm and shield of Captain America, does this signify a transition that Marvel has always planned for? After the success of the original cast of actors and characters for the Avengers, having a plan to phase them out through a storyline, to be replaced with fresh faces, younger actors, and keep the stories and history intact without falling into an infinite re-boot loop (looking at you Spiderman)? It’s almost crazy enough to work. Stay tuned to the MCU and we will find out!Source: BleedingCool.com
