Harry Shearer – Voice Of Flanders, Mr. Burns, Skinner, and More – Quits The Simpsons

TV

Harry Shearer has quit The Simpsons after 26 seasons, apparently due to contract issues. The 71-year old Shearer voiced many characters over 582 episodes including Ned Flanders, Mr. Charles Montgomery Burns, Principal Seymour Skinner, Waylon Smithers, Jr., Rainier Wolfcastle, and more.

Shearer broke the news last night on his Twitter account and shortly after thanked Simpsons fans for their support.

Seasons 27 and 28 are starting production soon, and Al Jean told the New York Times that “the show will go on” in a statement.

Harry Shearer was offered the same deal the rest of the cast accepted, and passed. The show will go on and we wish him well. Maggie took it hard.

We do not plan to kill off characters like Burns and Flanders but will recast with the finest voice talent available.

Do you think The Simpsons can continue on with a new voice for major characters like Burns, Smithers, Flanders, Skinner, and others? Let us know in the comments below, or on Google+, Twitter, and Facebook.
