Barack Obama Finally Gets @POTUS Account; Jokes With @BillClinton

|

After six years in office, the White House has finally claimed and started using the @POTUS Twitter account handle. President Barack Obama first tweeted yesterday morning, announcing he was finally on Twitter and in less than half an hour had reached 100,000 followers. As of the time of this article, the account has over 1.93 million followers… not bad for an account barely 24 hours old. Obama’s other account, @BarackObama, is run by the Organizing for Action staff and as such wasn’t truly his own account.

The First Lady, Michelle Obama, was quick to welcome her husband to Twitter as well.

According to the White House:

HOW TO: Change system date in OS X ...
HOW TO: Change system date in OS X from Terminal

The @POTUS Twitter account will serve as a new way for President Obama to engage directly with the American people, with tweets coming exclusively from him. President Obama is committed to making his Administration the most open and participatory in history, and @POTUS will give Americans a new venue to engage on the issues that matter most to them.

The @POTUS account would follow the current President, and Obama had fun responding to an inquiry by former president Bill Clinton.

As of this time, President Obama has followed 65 accounts, including his hometown Chicago sports teams. Well, except for the Cubs.
