Father Creates Spider-Dad Film to Raise Money in Memory of His Son

Comics/Books / Entertainment / Pop Culture

With Father’s Day geared up to drop on us tomorrow, it’s a day we set aside each year to honor the father-figures in our lives. From gear guides to Father’s Day cards, there seems to be a good way to honor your dad. However, what happens when your child passes away from cancer? Well, if you’re one dad, you make a tribute video for that child.

Last year, Mike Wilson created a video that went viral late last year where he dressed up as Spider-Man to surprise his son Jayden for his fifth birthday. What makes this special is his son was battling cancel. Sadly Jayden lost his fight with cancer shortly after the Spider-Dad video went viral.

Jayden was battling a grade-four brain stem tumor in September of 2013. The illness generally gives those who contract it, about a year to live. Well, right after, Wilson dressed up as Spider-Man for his son’s birthday and gave him a chance to meet his favorite superhero.

Wilson set up a GoPro camera outside his front door and gave everyone a peak at this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Wilson had his wife send Jayden out front. He jumped off the roof and surprised Jayden. Before carrying his son outside he asked him a few questions and gave him a Spider-hug. The minute-and-a-half video is worth the watch if you’re needing a feel-good moment in your day.

If that isn’t enough, Wilson has made another video, this time in memory of his son. Today’s video was made for the ‘Hope for Jayden Campaign’ and show’s Spider-Dad doing everything a spider can. It’s worth the time I promise.

So go grab your dad, sit now and take the next five and a half minutes to watch this video. We have it for you below.

If this got you in the feels let us know in the comment section below or on social media and for all those dads out there, have a wonderful Father’s Day.
