Steam Summer Sale Encore Going On Now – Here Are A Few Titles Deserving Your Attention

If you’ve perhaps been living under a rock, you may not have noticed that the Steam Summer Sale has been going on for the last 10 days or so. Deals have been flying around, and while you may have resisted the wiles of Gaben up until now, Steam is giving you one last chance to decide whether or not you really need to play The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt right this second.

If your’e anything like me, you may have bought a game or two during the sale proper. Maybe an early access game, and perhaps something you’ve been waiting to get cheaper before you pulled the trigger – Steam sales are great for that. I’ve honestly been impressed with my relative amount of control though. But as they always do, Steam is putting on the full-court press on the last day of the sale, bringing back most all of the heavy hitters for one last deluge of deals meant to separate you from your money.  There are far too many deals to list out here, but I wanted to give at least a few honorable mentions, or games that might have slipped past your radar that are worth your time in these final days of the Steam Sale.

Game of Thrones – A Telltale Games Series

Game of Thrones Telltale

You’ve watched the show, you’ve lamented the deaths of your favorite characters, now play Telltale’s adaptation and lament the deaths of some entirely different characters! We’ve reviewed a few of the chapters here on MOARGeek, and were overall impressed with the game. The entire series is currently 50% off, coming in at $14.99.

Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number

Hotline Miami 2

If you thought GoT had a high body count, you’ve obviously never played the Hotline Miami series. In this wild romp through the seedy underbelly of Miami, you’ll be spilling loads and loads of blood as you fight through the repercussions of your actions in the first game. At times controller-breaking-frustrating, but definitely worth playing, Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number is currently 33% off, or $10.04.

Valkyria Chronicles

Valkyria Chronicles

I will always suggest that everybody buy this game. It is a beautiful turn-based tactical RPG set in the fictional Europa, based loosely on 1930’s Europe, during escalating hostilities between The Federation, and The Empire. Gallia is the small country caught in the middle, and this game follows the story of the Gallian militia, fighting to rebuff the advances of the invading Empire. I honestly can’t say enough nice things about this PlayStation 3 port, so please just do yourself a favor and go pick it up. It’s currently 75% off for a final price of $4.99.

Mount & Blade: Warband

Mount and Blade Warband

I’ve put so damn many hours into this game it’s ridiculous. There’s very little story to tell of, but the combat is done very well, and there’s really just something very satisfying about riding past your enemy on your horse, and chopping them in the face with a sword. Mount & Blade has been around for awhile, so this may not be much of a “secret” per se, but if you don’t have it yet, I’d recommend picking it up now at 80% off, $3.99.

Banished

Banished

Described by some as “Starvation Simulator 2k14,” Banished is a city builder on a bit of a different track than most. It really digs into some of the minutia of day-to-day life of your settlers in ways that some other city-builders don’t. Starvation is definitely a concern, and the mantra I’ve taken up when playing is “Food Before Everything Else,” but Banished is a really nice, relaxing game that can be found for 75% off, $4.99.

There are obviously plenty of other deals to be had – just look at the background image above for the vast breadth of the sale – but these are just a few games that are worth your attention during the Steam Summer Sale Encore, going on now. So what did you buy? What will you be playing after the Steam Summer Sale wraps up? Let us know in the comments or on your favorite social media site.
