Are you in need of a new drone? Are you wanting one that is decently affordable? Are you also a beginner trying to get into the drone world? Well, DJI is here to save the day. DJI, the company who is well known for their camera innovation on aerial devices called quadrocopters, or better yet, drones has released an inexpensive drone for beginners all around who are looking to try out the fun devices.

The DJI Phantom 3 Standard is for those who will be flying a drone for the first time, and will have a price tag of $799 (USD). DJI’s CEO Frank Wang said in a statement “we wanted to create a new drone that addresses people who are curious about aerial imaging, but not quite ready to commit to a more professional system.” Creating this new Phantom drone was due to the success of the Phantom 3 Professional and the Phantom 3 Advanced.

The camera is set to 12 megapixels shooting images in DNG Raw and JPG. Video recording is up to 2.7k HD at 30 frames per second with a high quality 94 degree distortion free lens. That’s twice as much as 1080p.

With a WiFi connection (through the controller to the phone), users are able to view what the camera on the Phantom is showing straight to their mobile device using the DJI Go app. You’re able to take photos and record your flight/stop recording to fix any settings for the camera. As for the controller, it’s been updated from the DJI Phantom 2 Vision+ that comes with a WiFi extender and a wheel to control the camera.

You’ll be receiving 25 minutes of flight time and advanced gimbal stabilization that is included. There are four features that will be coming soon, which are:

  • Point of Interest – Allows pilots to focus on either a location or object to have the Phantom 3 face you as you fly it or have it circle around you automatically.
  • Follow Me – Have the Phantom 3 automatically follow you wherever you go.
  • Waypoints – Set a path for the drone which will fly on the route chosen to let you focus on the camera.
  • IOC (Intelligent Orientation Control) – Help you customize how you control the drone by choosing the easiest mode for you.

With the price only being $799 do you plan on getting the DJI Phantom 3 Standard, even if you’re not a beginner? Leave your comment below, or on Google +, Facebook, or Twitter.
