Let’s face it, we love to listen to music while we workout, cycle, work, or lounge around with Bluetooth earbuds increasing in popularity. Headphones range from corded headsets and earbuds to the cordless Bluetooth earbuds, which eliminate the tangle of cords. A new set of Bluetooth earbuds is about to hit the market and has already raised more than $380,000 on Kickstarter. Pearbuds are not only the smallest wireless earbuds — they also boast a best-in-market, six-hour battery life and a crisp, rich and cordless listening experience.
Unlike competitors Earin or Dash, Pearbuds’ creators have approached design from the inside out, carefully choosing components and figuring out where they would go within the enclosure along the way. Pearbuds use the best rechargeable battery on the market, an excellent (and tiny) digital amplifier, a compact but highly functional Bluetooth chip, and the best transducer they could find. The team at Pear Designs then sorted out how to reduce the overall size, and the prototype for the final version is currently being fabricated.
Initially funded after a mere nine hours on Kickstarter, Pearbuds are lightweight at only eight grams per earbud, will last six hours on a single charge and the portable charging case will recharge them fully in 45 minutes so you’re never going to be that long without your music. In order to retain great sound in a small form factor, Pearbuds utilize:
- Balanced armature audio transducers which offer very low noise distortion, and which are optimally tuned to specific frequency ranges.
- AptX codec ensures that the sound you hear over Bluetooth is CD-like quality. AptX uses special bit rate reduction techniques to offer Bluetooth sound that is indistinguishable from corded headphones.
- A proprietary-designed module creates ultra-low latency between both Bluetooth earbuds, so you hear exactly the same thing in both ears with no difference whatsoever.
- An ambient noise cancellation module is included to make sure that when your Pearbuds are in your ear, the music is all you can hear.
If the Kickstarter reaches $450,000, the Pearlbuds will be made available in five colour options, should it reach $700,000 they will include Budlocks to help secure the earbuds even better while working out.
If Pearbuds sound like something you’re interested in getting on board with, you can still get in on the action with 10 days left in their Kickstarter campaign. For $119USD you get early bird pricing ($80 off the regular price of $199USD) and a free case with estimated delivery in March 2016.Source: Kickstarter
