The 2016 SMITE World Championship will be taking place in Atlanta, Georgia, on January 7-10. It will be four days of intense competitive gaming featuring the best SMITE players from around the world.
For those of you not familiar with the game, SMITE is a popular MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) game which pits teams of players against each other with the goal of defeating the enemy team’s titan.
In SMITE you choose from different mythological gods to fight against each other. There are over 60 different gods from 7 different pantheons to choose from, Chinese, Egyptian, Greek, Hindu, Mayan, Norse, and Roman. Not all are gods, some are myths or heroes but there is definitely a good variety to choose from. You can pick from your favorite mythological gods such as Hades, Hercules, Aphrodite, Zeus, Thor, Loki, Odin, Artemis, Medusa, and many more that you’ve probably never heard of.
Ten teams from five regions will compete for $1 million. Plus, Hi-Rez will be hosting the first ever SMITE Xbox One World Championship. SWC 2016 will also feature content from Hi-Rez Studios’ other games Paladins and Jetpack Fighter; as well as exclusive merchandise, in game items, and of course, awesome swag.
Tickets for the event which will be held at the Cobb Energy Centre cost $99USD. If you can’t make it to Atlanta for SWC 2016, you can always stream it online for free starting Jan. 7, and the SWC Digital Loot Box will be available for sale closer to the event.
