For the first time in over a decade, a new Jeepers Creepers film is on the horizon, with Victor Salva, director of the previous two films in the series back at the helm. Also returning to the project is Academy Award winning director, screenwriter, and producer Francis Ford Coppola, who was the executive producer of the first film in 2001.
Myriad Pictures announced the beginning of development on the film earlier today. The horror film is expecting to get production under way early in 2016, with shooting scheduled in Vancouver. Myriad also announced that the movie is set to debut internationally at the Toronto Film Festival.
Salva, best known for his work on 1995’s Powder as well as the first two Jeepers Creepers films, not to mention his dubious criminal past, is excited to begin production on the next film in the franchise that has remained dormant for 12 years.
“Writing and directing a new Jeepers film, the first in over a decade, is incredibly exciting,” said Salva. “For me and I believe for Jeepers fans all over the world that have been asking for more,”
Salva expects to add wrinkles to the already existing Jeepers Creepers universe, as well as bring back old details and explain certain aspects that have yet to come to life.
“What will go before cameras as Jeepers Creepers 3 is a new and terrifying chapter from the Jeepers universe,” Said Salva. “We are bringing back the Creeper’s truck, and will be addressing the big questions about The Creeper: what it is, where it came from and why it does what it does.”
Francis Ford Coppola will return to the film as the executive producer, and the next Jeepers Creepers will serve as a continuance to his return to the industry, as his recent film, Distant Vision came out earlier this year after four years of inactivity.Source: Comicbook.com
