That’s right everybody. There’s a new Minecraft game coming, and it’s due to be hitting shelves sometime this fall. However, this time, the game isn’t coming from our friends over at Mojang, but from a new source.

Originally announced back in December, 2014, Telltale Games, the studio responsible for hits such as Tales From the BorderlandsThe Wolf Among Us, and The Walking Dead, is currently in the final stages of prepping their new game, Minecraft: Story Mode, to hit shelves later this fall.  Telltale Games specializes in episodic games, and this new Minecraft game is set to go the same way, with one episode at a time being released.

This game is going to be available on what looks like pretty much every platform EVER….it’s coming to Xbox, PlayStation, PC, Mac, iOS, Android, you name it, there’s probably going to be a version of the game available for it.

Not too much is known about the exact storyline of the game just yet. With Minecraft not having a story to speak of, the creators of Story Mode have most likely taken liberties in order to create a game that has a compelling storyline without taking away the Minecraft authenticity. Be sure to check out the trailer below to see what you think of the story they’ve shown so far, and play the interactive trailer on Telltale Games website as well.

Just this past week at PAX Prime, Telltale Games issued the announcement that Minecraft: Story Mode was going to be the first of their games where you could choose what your character looks like. The main character’s name is Jesse, and you can opt into either a boy or a girl, with several different appearances to choose from. The different gendered characters come with different voice actors–Patton Oswalt for male Jesse and Catherine Taber for female Jesse.

While there isn’t a formal date for release just yet, every announcement so far has said that the first episode of the game will be out sometime later this fall.

So, what do you think? Are you going to play this new addition to the Minecraft universe? Are you still upset that there’s been no news on the offical sequel to Minecraft? Let us know in the comments down below!
