Minecraft has been insanely popular, especially for younger gamers. Telltale Games has also seen success lately with their episodic game style, so it wasn’t much of a surprise when Mojang and Telltale Games teamed up for Minecraft: Story Mode.

Just ahead of it’s October 13th launch, a new trailer has been released alongside the announcement of the cast of voice actors for the game.

In the game, gamers will choose to play as a male or female hero named Jesse, and will travel across the Overworld, through the Nether, to the End, and beyond. While at EnderCon to meet Gabriel the Warrior of the legendary Order of the Stone, Jesse and his/her friends discover that something is wrong and you must then set out on a quest to find The Order of the Stone in hopes of saving your world from oblivion.

Some pretty big names will voice the various characters, and Minecraft: Story Mode will feature Patton Oswalt as male Jesse, Catherine Taber as female Jesse, Brian Posehn as Axel, Ashley Johnson as Petra, Scott Porter as Lukas, Martha Plimpton as Olivia, Billy West as the narrator, and Paul Reubens as Ivor. In the role of the four ‘Order of the Stone’ members, the voice actors include Dave Fennoy as Gabriel the Warrior, Corey Feldman as Magnus the Griefer, Grey Griffin as Ellegaard the Redstone Engineer, and John Hodgman as Soren the Architect.

The first episode, “The Order of the Stone,” is the first of five episodes and will be available on PC, Mac, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and the Xbox One on October 13th. The retail disc version will go on sale in North America on October 27th, and in Europe on October 30th. It will contain the first episode and a season pass for the remaining four.

In addition, Telltale Games and Mojang will hold a special WORLD PREMIERE launch event in Hollywood, California, on October 12th at the ArcLight Cinerama Dome. The Minecraft community and Telltale fans are invited to a join in on the “World’s Largest Let’s Play” as the audience cheers and directs the action on the big screen! Tickets to the event will be at no cost, and those wishing to attend must email minecraftpremiere@telltalegames.com for more information. Seating will be limited and tickets will be offered in advance on a first come first served basis.
