Samsung Pay Now Available On Google Play For Verizon Customers

When Samsung acquired LoopPay back in February of this year, the move seemed likely to vault Samsung to the top of the mobile payment mountain nearly overnight. Unlike Android Pay or Apple Pay, LoopPay’s technology allows for wireless payments to be made at nearly any standard credit card reader rather than requiring a special NFC terminal. Samsung Pay was born, and quite a few people were excited, including many of us here at Techaeris.

Samsung, as they are wont to do, have poked fun specifically at Apple over this difference in a recent advertisement.

As is sometimes the case, Verizon was a bit slower than the other carriers to agree to support Samsung Pay, but thankfully that has recently changed. After deciding earlier this month to support Samsung Pay, and after sending out an OTA update to supported Samsung devices recently allowing the app to function on Verizon’s network, Verizon users are reporting today that the Samsung Pay app is slowly rolling out in the Google Play store to download.

Samsung Pay is currently only supported on a select group of Samsung phones including the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+, and Galaxy Note5. Owners of these devices should be able to download the Samsung Pay app on Google Play now.
