Netflix Releases Aziz Ansari’s Master of None Trailer

|

Adding to their slate of original films and TV shows on their docket, Netflix has released the trailer for Aziz Ansari’s upcoming sitcom Master of None via their YouTube channel. Ansari has teamed up with Netflix before, as his last two stand-up specials, Buried Alive and Live at Madison Square Garden were released exclusively via the streaming site.

Following the end of his stint as the wannabe business titan and media mogul Tom Haverford on Parks and Recreation, Aziz Ansari made sure not to be away from television for too long. Master of None looks to be a cross between the typical romantic comedy and the brutally honest realism of contemporary American society portrayed in shows like FX’s Louie.

Ansari’s role in his new show comes off as a departure from his usual character work, like as Tom in Parks and Rec or as the outspoken and excessively flashy Randy Springs in Judd Apatow’s Funny People. His role as Dev appears closer to what he talks about in his stand-up routine, where he analyzes life as a younger person, life as a minority, and finding love in the metropolitan jungle known as New York City.

The comedian created the show with the help of former Parks and Rec co-producers Michael Schur, Alan Yang and David Miner. The cast includes a number of actors who are no stranger to comedic TV, such as former Saturday Night Live cast member Noel Wells, Eric Wareheim from Tim and Eric, Dear White People‘s Lena Waithe and the voice behind the title characters Archer and Bob’s Burgers H. Jon Benjamin.

The series to will hit Netflix in full on November 6.
