Android Tablets May Be Getting Split Screen View Soon

Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Sorry, let me calm my inner fanboy down for a minute. Good news for folks who use Android tablets because you might be receiving a split screen option some time in the near future.

Thursday, during a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything), the team who created the Pixel C let loose that they are  currently working on getting Split Screen as a feature for Android tablets. Unfortunately, no specific date was revealed or if it would be pushed out to the Pixel C first, new Android tablets, or as an update for Android tablets are currently out being sold now. Andrew Bowers, Google’s Consumer Hardware Director replied back to a question about wishing the Android team was able to get in in time for the Pixel’s release stating “We’re working on lots of things right now for N that, of course, we wish we had, you know, yesterday. But we’d spoil the surprise of N if we shared all of them. Split screen is in the works!” Android and Chrome User Interface Director Glen Murphy also mentioned  “There are many things, like multiwindow, that we’ve been spending a lot of time on — hopefully we can share more about this soon.”

This might be enough proof to say Split Screen is coming, but will it be in time to really make a difference in the world as Microsoft and Apple already have Split Screen for their devices? Maybe not, but stock Android users might enjoy using it so they won’t have to buy different devices that already have it such as a Samsung phone, or an LG device, or a Surface tablet/Surface book, and even the newer iPads running iOS 9.

Any Android tablet users out there that would enjoy seeing a Split Screen option? Let us know by leaving a comment down below, or on Google+, Facebook, or Twitter.
