Want To See Deadpool Host SNL? So Do 33,000 (And Counting) Others

, , ,

The latest super anti-hero movie to hit the big screen, Deadpool has seen great success especially given its R-rating status in the United States. The foul mouthed “Merc with a Mouth” brought in higher revenue than expectations, and even beat the previous record for the opening weekend haul for an R-rated movie. In fact, the buzz was so great before the movie even started showing in theatres that it was revealed that a sequel has already received the green light. Reviews have been great, including one from our own Justin Jelinek.

So it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise that there’s a petition going around over on Change.org to have Deadpool host an upcoming Saturday Night Live episode. No, not Ryan Reynolds (who has hosted before), but the merc himself. The petition was created by Andrew Stege and currently has over 33,000 of the 35,000 signatures Stege is looking for.

How would this not be hilarious having Deadpool in sketches, breaking the 4th wall, and inserting some of his brand of humor (obviously toned down a bit for network television)!?!?! I have not watched a full episode of SNL in years because I just haven’t been able to stomach an entire episode, but having Deadpool host, star, and be all over the episode would get the DVR set so I can watch it again and again!!! Not to mention, depending on the musical guest, how awesome would it be to have some Deadpool interpretive dancing while the musical guest was playing? There’s unlimited possibilities!!!

What do you think about the idea of Deadpool hosting Saturday Night Live? Let us know in the comments below, or on Google+, Twitter, or Facebook — but not until after you’ve shown your favourite merc some love and signed the petition!
