10tons Bringing Xenoraid To Consoles, PC Later This Year

10tons, developer of games like Baseball Riot, Sparkle Unleashed and Crimsonland, has announced a vertically scrolling shoot’em up with minimal bullet hell traits. Xenoraid will be coming to the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and PC later this year.

Xenoraid is set in the year 2032, when a small fleet of extraterrestrial starships enters the solar system and attacks immediately. Lacking purpose built starfighters, humans quickly arm existing spacecrafts with machine guns, missiles, grenade launchers and more. Space agencies, armed forces and private companies from all nations join forces to defend Earth. Emphasizing deliberate shooting and thrilling action, the fighters allow shooting in angled directions, as well as feature a weapon overheat system and limited heavy weapon ammo capacity. Procedurally spawned enemies will no doubt make each play session unique.

“I believe there is demand for shmups rooted in the classic, pre-bullet hell era gameplay. And that doesn’t mean it has to be decidedly retro. Xenoraid is hitting these targets dead on.” said Jaakko Maaniemi, team lead for the game.

Features of Xenoraid include:

  • Vertically scrolling shoot’em up for action game fans
  • Focus on effective shooting
  • Fighter switching during missions
  • Procedurally driven missions
  • Metagame with fighter upgrades, tech development and story

In the meantime, you can head over to the Xenoraid website to sign up to receive updates and get notified when the Steam Greenlight campaign for the game launches.
