The Coalition and Microsoft Studios have announced that the Gears of War 4 multiplayer beta will launch exclusively on the Xbox One on April 18th. On that date, those who have played Gears of War: Ultimate Edition on the Xbox One or Windows 10 will begin receiving early access tokens to the Versus multiplayer beta. The early access portion will run from April 18th through April 24th, and at that time the beta will be opened to all qualifying Xbox Live Gold members. The second portion of the beta will run April 25th through May 1st.
In order to qualify for early access, gamers need to login and play Gears of War: Ultimate Edition by 11pm PDT on April 11th on either their Xbox One consoles or Windows 10 computers. The Coalition is using this beta to not only give gamers a taste of what to expect in Gears of War 4 multiplayer, but also to gather feedback and give gamers the opportunity to help shape the multiplayer experience.
The Coalition will also be at PAX East in Boston and will host a panel called “Out of the Shadows: Inside Gears of War Multiplayer” on Sunday, April 24th at 10:30am which will take a closer look at the multiplayer portion of the game, as well as unveil some surprises, and offer prizes to fans who show up to the panel in Gears of War cosplay. The panel will also be streamed on the Gears of War Twitch channel. In addition, attendees of PAX East will be able to try out Gears of War 4 versus multiplayer at the Xbox booth.
