Moshi ionbank Review: Fashionable Power

Moshi is a brand we’ve been following here at Techaeris since before we started the site. Now we’ve had the chance to get down and dirty with a lot of their products and they make some of the best out there. In this review we take a look at the Moshi ionbank 3K and 5K. The Moshi ionbank series is a different approach to external batteries from any company. Moshi went into the direction of power with style.

Moshi ionbank 3K

Design

One thing you can’t say the ionbank 3K is, is plain, and that’s completely on purpose. Moshi wanted to do battery banks a little bit different than some of the other OEM’s out there. Instead of giving you a dull black or white device, Moshi thought about its style. The 3K is compact, small and light enough to fit in a purse or backpack with ease. But when you first look at it, it looks more like a small change purse or maybe an earbud holder.

Wrapped in faux leather with super nice stitching around the edges, the 3K looks nothing like a battery and it’s a brilliant design. The cable is tucked away under that faux leather and has a Lightning connector and USB Type A connector for charging the 3K. There is one button on the top which turns the juice on to the phone or turns it off. Overall the design is wonderful, perfect for just blending in with your other lifestyle accessories.

Ease of Use

Super easy to use, plug and play for charging your iPhone and for charging the 3K itself. You can plug the USB Type A side into a wall charger or car charger and get faster charging at 2.4-amp which is a nice feature. SmartSense also knows when you’re charging the phone and battery at the same time. SmartSense will prioritize iPhone charging first and then funnel the rest of the juice to the 3K to top it off.

Battery Life

The 3K is capable of charging both the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus one full time before you have to recharge it. It’s a nice little gadget to have around in case of emergency.

Price/Value

At $64.95 the price for 3,000mAhs is a bit on the higher end but most Moshi buyers are willing to pay a premium for a well built and well designed product.

Wrap Up

Not for everyone due to the price, but Moshi really designed the ionbank series well and if you want to blend your battery pack in with your fashion sense, this series is a must see.

Moshi ionbank 5K

Design

Continuing the lifestyle and fashion design sense, the ionbank 5K is also made to look better than the average battery. The 5K is a bit larger than the 3K and it also incorporates a faux leather but with metal look. This design is also brilliant and well made, Moshi really nailed the look they were going for here. As with the 3K, under the leather part of the battery is the cable with a Lightning and USB Type A end.

There is one button on the 5K which turns the juice onto your iPhone and also turns it off.

Battery Life

The 5,000mAh can juice up your iPhone 6s twice and take care of the 6s Plus for one cycle and a half.

Price/Value

Pricing is set at $79.95 and again, this battery may not be for everyone but those who want a sense of fashionable style will love it.

Wrap Up

A really nice powerbank that can charge an iPhone 6s twice or the 6s Plus a time and a half.
