New On Netflix US: May Has Marseille, Sandler, Mermaids, And More

Well, sorry for the delay on the Netflix US list, this is my first time behind the wheel on the big, bad New on Netflix US post so it’s taken me a bit longer to get things together. Onwards and upwards though! Let’s take a look at what’s new and exciting on Netflix US in the month of May, and if you’re in Canada head on over to check out what’s New on Netflix Canada for this month as well.

Netflix Originals

Netflix US users will be able to enjoy many of the same Netflix Originals as our neighbors to the North. First out of the gate is the debut of Marseille, the story of a politician on his quest for reelection who is hounded by his younger protégé. Starring Gérard Depardieu, Benoît Magimel, and Géraldine Pailhas, this is one you’ll want to catch if you’re interested in political thrillers.

Continuing on with the Netflix Originals, season two of Grace and Frankie will premiere this month as well. Starring Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda, the pair are shocked when their husbands — Martin Sheen and Sam Waterson — want divorces because they have realized they are gay and in love with each other. Fans of the show can tune in for the second season starting on May 6th.

May is a good month for comedy and Netflix Originals, with series’ such as Maria Bamford in Lady Dynamite Season 1 on May 20th, Chelsea Handler comes to Netflix with her new series Chelsea on May 11th, and the new Netflix Original stand up, Ali Wong: Baby Cobra comes to the streaming service on May 6th.

Other Netflix Originals coming to the US in May include the second seasons of Bloodline and Chef’s Table on May 27th. Also arriving on the 27th is the second of four scheduled collaborations between Netflix and Adam Sandler, The Do-Over. Here, Sandler teams up with old SNL buddy David Spade as the pair fake their own deaths. Hilarity may ensue, we’ll have to wait until the 27th to find out.

Netflix Original Series For Kids

The main Netflix Originals event for kids on Netflix US this month is the 4th season of Mako Mermaids. The show follows the exploits of Zac, a boy who accidentally turns into a Merman, and threatens the the existence of three young mermaids who guard Mako Island. Season 4 will come to Netflix US on May 27th.
